Auction to support Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity projects in Kenya
A charity auction of Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar (25 years) was held on September 21 at the Politeama Theater in Bra during the Purveyors of Good Cheese Award. This special vinegar was drawn in 2009 from barrels bought by Slow Food Italy and stored with the Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar Consortium at Spilamberto.
The sum of € 4200 raised in the auction will be forwarded to the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity’s projects in Kenya to support five producer communities: the Musciunu chicken farmers, the salt gatherers, the Lare pumpkin growers, the Molo nettle growers and the ash yogurt producers. These are communities which maintain ancient knowledge and to continue their work need equipment, technical assistance and help to form cooperatives so they can sell on local and national markets.
